The Badminton Club was started in the 1980’s by a group of badminton enthusiasts to cultivate sportsmanship in members, to create an encouraging and collegiate environment, and to introduce the sport to new players. The camaraderie that members of the club gain from playing sports together is invaluable and has been an important part of the college experience for many of our past members.

 

Our purpose is to provide a weekly opportunity for individuals to participate in the sport of badminton as a recreational activity and to provide training sessions for beginners wishing to improve their skills. 

 

Many current and past members of the club have participated in competitions on and off campus.  Examples include the intramural badminton tournaments (organized by UGA), the Georgia Games (an annual event for Georgia residents), intercollegiate games, and informal tournaments.
